Some more scrapping

I have been working on a few layouts this week, most of them are for - Scrapability Sketches - this is a great little forum, so make sure you check it out if you're ever lacking inspiration - Bek creates the most amazing sketches, which I find so easy to adapt to suit my style.

First up, this layout was done for the competition which has just started - Scrapability Soup. The basic idea is that every week (or so), we will be given some criteria, whether it be a sketch, a colour combination etc, and we have to create a layout based on that.

This week we were given a sketch: I decided to scrap the very first photo that was ever taken of Lily and her Daddy - she was only minutes old and one of the theatre nurses was kind enough to take it while I was being stitched back up (I had a c/section)

And a detail shot:
I love that fabric flower, I was very lucky to receive it from the super talented Krissy.

Bek has also started a 52 week 52 Challenges type of thing (I have no idea what it's actually called haha), and the first week she gave us the colour combination of; green, blue and orange. Not colours I would normally use, but still I gave it a go, and I was pleasantly surprised by the layout...I actually like it!!

Last year Lily had her very first 'school' photos taken at daycare, so I thought I would finally pull them out and scrap them.

Detail Shot:

Scrapability is also having a DT Callout, so I decided to throw my name in - why not, you gotta be in it to win it!
We were given another awesome sketch to work with -and this is the result. I really love how this layout turned out, it's definitely my favourite one that I have done in a while.

Photo Swap Layout

Last month at Mystical, DT member (and my friend) Christine hosted a photo swap, where everyone would get paired up and swap one photo with their partner and then we had to complete a layout with that photo.

Sounds easy even, right? Well I found it quite daunting as I have never scrapped someone else's photo before, and I was worried that I wouldnt do it justice. Plus I also decided that since Donna's albums are 12x12 that I would do her layout in that size - I cant even remember the last time that I scrapped a 12x12 layout.

I cant share the layout I did for Donna yet, as it is not my child in the photo, so I will need to ask permission first. But here's the layout that Donna did for me (matches nicely with Lily's pink walls, don't you think LOL):

And a detail shot, of that awesome little cluster:

I absolutely LOVE it!!! So different to my style, but that's what makes photo swaps fun. I think that there may be another one starting up soon, so head over to the forum and check it out.

The Crafty Notions spray that has been used on the layout looks amazing, and it's available in the Mystical Store.

And finally, some of you may have noticed my obsession with Babushka Dolls (or Matryoshka Dolls as they are more formally known), well today a very special parcel arrived for me, all the way from Canada:

Aren't they just about the cutest thing you have ever seen!?!
They are little cameo style necklaces, but I plan on making mine (and Lily's) into keyrings, and will do the same for my mum and sister if that's what they want too.

It's the First....

So I can reveal the full layout behind one of the sneakies I posted here last week (it may have even been yesterday that I posted it, I cant remember LOL).

It's for my challenge over at Scraps of Us - this month I set the criteria of using either a song title, or a movie title as the title of your layout. And for an extra little RAK from me you have to be able to come up with a title that is both from a song as well as a movie (the sweetest thing is both a song by U2, and a film from 2002).

And a detail shot:

Check out the thread here if you want to play along.

Layouts from the weekend.

This weekend I managed to get some scrapping done, normally I dont scrap on the weekends as it's our family time. We have still managed to spend time together, I have just been staying up late!

First up is my take on the second sketch of the month over at Stuck?! I usually try and play along with at least one of the sketches, and totally forgot about it this month until I saw Chloe's blog (so thanks Chloe).
This is a photo that hubby took of the Petronas Towers while we were in KL. As much as I might bitch and moan that he never gets any good photos (of Lily and I) every now and then he takes an awesome shot.

Detail Shot:
I recently bought a whole heap of fabric buttons off ebay (and I *may* have already been back and ordered some more), and I knew as soon as I saw this one that it would go perfectly with some of our KL photos.

Next is a layout for one of the monthly challenges over at Mystical (nothing like leaving it to the last minute!). Donna set the criteria of having to use some song lyrics on the layout - so I chose the soppy Bryan Adams song "Everything I do (I do it for you)".

Detail Shot:
Another fabric button, but this time it's another from Lil Red Rocket.

And lastly, here's another sneaky:
You'll have to check out Scraps of Us on February 1st to see the full layout.

Totally inspired by...

I have quite a few of the Jenni Bowlin bracket shaped papers in my stash (I seem to accumulate them in kits), and since I dont scrap in the 12x12 format I had no idea what to do with them. That was until I saw Fran's blog! After seeing how she cut one to fit an 8.5x11 layout, I was inspired to get out my scissors and double sided tape and have a go.

Beautiful Girl - was the result.

Detail Shots:

See that super cute little fabric button - that's from Lil Red Rocket, Shell makes the most gorgeous buttons and hair elastics, and she's super nice to boot!!
