Some of you may have noticed that I snuck a new logo onto my blog - if not I'm very happy to announce that I am now on the DT for Scraps of Us. Over the past three weeks, I have been taking part in a competition to help find some new members for the DT - I found out yesterday morning that I made the team and it was a struggle to keep my mouth shut until the announcement was made on the forum.
These are the layouts I completed for each of the 3 rounds:
ROUND 1: Criteria was that it had to be a layout about yourself, but the catch was you couldnt include a photo:
ROUND 2: Layout had to be of our greatest achievement, and also had to show case a technique (which we also had to provide instructions for). I actually just did a layout on the same topic for Butterfly Crafts, so instead of doing another one on me completing uni, I decided to pay tribute to my weightloss over the course of this year.
ROUND 3: We had to complete a layout for $5 or less - sounds easy, right? It's harder than you think when you add up just how much all the little things you put on a layout cost. I chose to do a minimalist style layout (not to save money, as I still charged myself for 2 sheets of patterned paper, but just to try something different).
I just want to say (for about the hundredth time), thanks to Vicki, Sam and Carly -for giving me this opportunity. Im also really excited to be working with the other new members of the DT - Chloe, Michelle, and Maria-Helena.
As if it wasnt exciting enough just making the DT, there is also a Cyber Crop this weekend, and we are all being thrown in the deep end and having to come up with a challenge (mine will go up on Sunday).
The theme for the CC is "GO GREEN" it's all about reducing, reusing and recycling. So if you have some time over the weekend, why dont you pop on over and join in the fun.
I have a few other layouts to share, but we have been 'shaped' so my internet is super slow - I will be back early next week to share some more.
xx

Some Mystical Challenges
This month I decided to be a good little forum member, and join in some of the challenges for October - normally I run out of time or forget all about them - whoops.
So this month I made it my priority to get some done, and still with a couple weeks in the month, I may be able to get the last one done too.
Word Association Challenge by Sam:
Sam gave us a list of words (black, creepy crawly, splat, scary, white, transparent, fear, blood, dark and, skeleton), and we had to do a layout based on these words/themes. How could I go past Twilight!?!
Detail Shot:
That little floral spray is from D-Lish Scraps - check them out, so much beautiful stuff in the store.
This layout was completed using the September Girl What is Old is New kit.
The next challenge was a sketch challenge by Ellen:
And here's my take - slowly working my way through the photos from our Kuala Lumpur holiday.
Detail Shots:
A beautiful little mushroom button from My Little Bit of Whimsy.
Wednesday morning saw another challenge go up in the Family Ties competition. This week we had to use brights (hot pink, orange, teal and black), flowers and layering, and do a layout about parents, grandparents or aunties and uncles.
I chose to do a layout of Lily with her Nannie and Ya-ya (my parents) - yep, that's another KL photo.
Detail Shot:
Another little mushroom button from My Little Bit of Whimsy - I love them! Might have to stop using them though - what am I going to do when I run out?!

Butterfly Crafts Reveal
The new challenge went up last night our time, here it is:
We all have a time in our life when we have had a moment that changed our life for the good or the bad. I want you to scrap that defining moment, a moment that changed your life. It could be the birth of a baby, when you met your significant other or a career change. Tell us about it. Help us to learn a little more about you!
And here's my layout:
I decided to go with my uni graduation - it was a big 'thing' for me when I went back to finish. The journaling read: After 61/2 years, 8 semesters, 20 passes and 3 fails - I finally did it. I finished uni!!! I'm still not sure if Marine Science is the career I want to pursue, but if not, at least I am one step closer.
Head on over to the blog, or the forum and check the challenge out. You have until the end of the month to get your entries in.

A Sneak Peek and Family Ties #2
On the 15th of this month my first sample will go up on the Butterfly Crafts blog, but here's a sneak peek at what you can expect.
Check back on the 15th (or maybe the 16th with the time difference) for my full layout, and the reveal of the topic.
This week also saw the second challenge for the Family Ties competition over at Mystical go up. This week we had to use pastels (any 3 of the following colours: baby blue, baby pink, lemon and lime), and it had to be our a child/children.
I love this photo of Lily and I - it was actually a self taken shot which I then cropped in so it just had out faces in it.
Detail Shots:
Another beautiful D-Lish flower.

Scrappy Mail
I am the most impatient person when it comes to waiting for things which have been ordered online. Basically I see it and WANT it!!!
Somethings however are worth the wait, and today one such parcel arrived.
I saw a link to an online store on Kathleen's blog, so i decided to go and check it out - instantly I was in LOVE - My Little Bit of Whimsy.
How cute are the trees:
And the Butterflies/Dragonflies:
Look out for these on my layouts soon!
A layout I did yesterday afternoon for the latest Stuck?! Sketches.
I didnt follow the sketch exactly (there were meant to be another couple of embellishment clusters but I liked it just the way it is). The papers are a mixture of Comso's Earth Love, and some My Little Shoebox.
