Introducing Benji Roman

Just for you Mel (and all the other people that have emailed me asking me for some photos):

Ian cutting the cord:

Big Sister, Little Brother:

With his Teddy (about to leave the hospital and go home):

Me and my little man (12 days old):

Now, there are 4:

Benji and Roman (hahaha he still expects me to call him Dad, but given I named the baby after him, I will call him Roman :-P):

We had some professional photos taken, and this is my favourite:

November Stuck Sketch

It has only taken me about 6 months, but finally I have scrapped an actual layout again - and the first one of my little man (although you wouldn't neccessarily know that, since it's not of his cute little face).

I loved the sketch, and as soon as I saw it I knew that this photo would be perfect - I wanted the photo to be the focus.

This is the original sketch:

And my take on it:

Where have I been?

Having a baby!

My beautiful little man was welcomed into the world on October 7, 2010 at 10:06am.

Benji Roman:

Everything with his birth went to plan, and I was able to go home only 3 nights after he was born.
Lily is a proud big sister, and absolutely adores Benji.

I havent done any scrapping in such a long time, but I am starting to get some ideas in my head, so it hopefully wont be too much longer before I start to create again.

Benji's Memory Box

I found out a couple of weeks ago at my morphology scan that I am expecting a little boy - so I set straight to work on making a little memory box to keep all my important pregnancy memorabilia (and later birth related things) in.

I went for something a bit more bright and cheerful than I would usually do, but having never done anything boy related I didnt really know where to start!
Either way, I am happy with the result.

Obviously we have chosen his name already - Benji, not Benjamin...just Benji.

Some detail shots of those cute little robots:

Other than that, I haven't done any scrapping since I last updated. I have no time or energy, and in fact dare I say...no desire at the moment to scrap. Hopefully that will change, but with only about 16 weeks until my little man arrives - time is running out.

Lily's Memory Box

In preparation for the arrival of the baby, I have been cleaning up the nursery (which in the 6 months since Lily moved out has become an absolute pigsty!), I came across an old box of stuff from when I was pregnant with Lily, and also from when she was first born. So I decided to make a memory box to keep everything in.

I saw the new papers from Kaiser when I was in my LSS, and knew that I just had to use them, and then to my surprise when I picked up the latest 'workshop' magazine there was a trinket box in there already prettied up using the same range of papers - so the hard part was done (coming up with the design) - thanks Kaiser!!

Inside (I didnt paint the inside, as I really hate the feeling of paint getting under my nails - think nails down a chalkboard, and I was worried it might chip off over time and ruin some of the stuff in the box):

The idea is, that this box will hold all the papery-type stuff, and I have a big container that I am putting some special things in from when she was a baby - the outfit she came home from the hospital in, a blankie that my Nanna (her Great-Grand Mother) crocheted for her, the little lamb that Ian bought from the hospital gift shop and put in her bassinet at the hospital, and things like that.
I know that right now she is too little to appreciate it fully, but when she's older I hope that she enjoys having some things from when she was so little.

I plan on making something similar for this baby, but I need to know their sex first - it's so hard to find neutral scrapbooking papers that I like, so it's just easier if I wait.

A couple more layouts

I actually managed to scrap two more layouts on Sunday afternoon, again they are scraplifts of my own work - but given that I havent scrapped in so long, I think I can be excused.

This is a curious elephant from Zoo Negara in KL - my husband actually took the photo. As much as I bitch about him taking crap photos of me - he does every now and then manage to take some awesome photos:

Detail Shot:
Using a cute little Lil Red Rocket button as a feature embellishment.

Again another photo from KL, just a sweet little moment between Ian and Lily:
(the colours are a little off in this one, but no matter what I did I couldnt get it to look right)

Soon we find out....

if the little baby in my belly is another little girl, or a boy. So in honour of that I decided to scrap my very first belly pic, and baby themed layout.
This is a photo from last Sunday when I was 16 weeks (so it only took me a week to get around to using it), I think that I am starting to actually look pregnant and not just a little fat in the middle. Some people still cant tell, but I guess it all depends on what I am wearing - when I have my uniform of gym pants and stretchy top on there's no hiding it, but when I have normal clothes on I guess it's not so obvious.

So far everything has been going well with the pregnancy, and finally it seems that my morning sickness is settling down. I still have some bad days, but on average I have more good days than bad.

Pink or Blue?

I should mention that the design of this layout is a total rip off of another layout in my album, which I *think* was originally a sketch challenge over at What's Old is New (I cant remember exactly where the sketch is from, but I can tell you that it is one from the very talented Wendy Smith).

Detail Shot:

I love that little Bambi button, and have been waiting to use it ever since I found out that I was pregnant. I have had to hide the rest of them from Lily though, as she saw them and claimed them as her own!

Speaking of Lily, she is really enjoying spending time doing her own 'scrapbooking' it usually just involved using one of my trimmers and cutting paper into thin strips, but I am really loving the fact that she likes scrapping too. It means that we will are able to sneak off and spend some quality time together now, and once the baby is born.

Some News

So, I snuck a new 'blinkie' onto the side of my blog the other day - did you notice?

I am very happy to announce that Ian, Lily and I are expecting the pitter-patter of little feet in October!
I am now about 13 weeks along, and am happy, excited and nervous all at the same time!!

I havent been blogging or scrapping much since I found out, as I have been really sick (I actually have Hyperemesis gravidarum). I was sick with Lily, but this is something completely different, and definitely something that I wasnt expecting.

One thing I have pleasantly surprised about is, Lily's behaviour. My baby has had to grow up so much in the past couple of months, she understands that Mummy is sick, and so she does her best to be a good girl and take care of me during the day when Ian is at work. Quite often she will tell me to go lay down and come up on the big bed with me and stroke my head or snuggle up behind me and let me have a sleep for a while. It's a lot for a 3 year old to take on, and I feel guilty that she is now the one taking care of me, but hopefully now as I am entering the second trimester I will start to feel better soon, and I can get back to being the Mummy.

One good thing to come out of this, is that it has beyond a doubt proven what a good big sister Lily is going to be when the baby arrives. She is so caring and compassionate already with both me and her 'babies' (her dollies that she now has to carry around everywhere with her).

Here's a piccie of our beautiful baby taken at my 12 week ultrasound (last week):

I think it's AMAZING the detail you can see already, and the baby was only 6.24cm long at that stage.

Scraps of Us - CC layouts

The SOU CC is well and truly underway, and some great challenges have been posted.

The first layout is my challenge. I challenged everyone to scrap a layout about their hobby (other than scrapping) or about something that they collect.
I, of course couldnt go past doing a layout of my Babushka Dolls.

Detail Shot:

And I have even managed to do one of the great challenges set by the other members of the DT. Vicki challenged us to do a layout, on what it means to be a girl.
I decided to do a layout on my beautiful princess, and how she's just as happy being a girly girl, as she is running around nakie and playing outside.

Detail Shot:

Hopefully I will get a chance to have a go at Chloe's card challenge, but unless I get to it tonight I wont get a chance, as tomorrow afternoon I am off to see this man in concert:

Im so excited, I have been to almost all of his concerts here in Perth (whether he toured with Matchbox Twenty, or as a solo artist), unfortunately last time he was here with Matchbox Twenty I was too sick to go, so it's been a couple of years since I have seen him in concert.

We had a bit of a scare last night with Lily, she was in the bathroom talking to me, and then next thing I know she was choking on something. She had her fingers down her throat and she was trying spit whatever it was up. I gave her a couple of whacks on the back and couldnt get it out, so I called my husband and while he was trying to get it out I called the ambulance. As soon as the man at dispatch heard a small child was choking he asked me my address (before he even asked my name) and sent the ambulance with the sirens on. Luckily while I was talking to him, Ian managed to get the thing out (turned out it was a grape), but the ambulance was still sent to make sure that she was ok (we weren't sure if the thing came out of her mouth, or went further down - turns out Ian managed to get her to spit it out).

She was back to her normal self by the time the ambulance got here - which didnt take very long at all (we were lucky and there was an ambulance at the depot 5 minutes down the road that was sent to us). Just goes to show the resilence of kids, one minute they are choking and almost giving their Mummies a heart attack, and 5 minutes later they are back to playing and laughing!!

Im just glad that my baby girl is ok, and I promise that no matter how much I want to tell her to be quiet, when she's screaming and carrying on (we've all said it, or at least wished it), I wont say it again - because that 30 seconds or so when she was quiet were the most terrifying of my life!
